Felix Mendelssohn's mighty biblical oratorio depicting the Old Testament story of the prophet Elijah's conflict with the pagan priests of Baal is here brought to thrilling life by the combined forces of the Newcastle Bach Choir and the Waynflete Singers.

A joyous celebration of the season in which Handel's exultant Coronation Anthems are joined by Gabrieli's mighty Canzonas for brass and John Rutter's Gloria, a modern classic. The concert finishes with a selection of carols, both new and familiar; some for choir alone and some for choir and audience and brass.

Earthly Delights & the Garden of Love

Carl Orff's vivid and life-affirming setting of medieval Latin texts is accompanied by two of Leonard Bernstein's most acclaimed and exuberant works. Pre-concert drinks will be served in the Warden's Garden from 7pm, for those holding the appropriate ticket.
